Travel Fort Lauderdale Road Trips
Miami Herals - Brace yourselves again this year. Apparently comfortable with the economy and undeterred by higher gas prices, record numbers -- 63 million people across the country -- are expected to drive over the Christmas and New Year's holidays.
Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International and Miami International airports will see thousands scurrying through their terminals in the next few days. Nationwide, 8.6 million people and 574,000 in Florida are expected to fly during the holidays.
Today should be the Fort Lauderdale airport's busiest day of the holiday season, with 76,000 people expected to pass through, said Jim Reynolds, airport spokesman.
Reynolds said some 484,000 people are expected to use the airport from Dec. 21 through Monday, an increase of 80,000 over last year's holiday season.
